Guns and Roses Premieres This Monday on Primetime Bida

ABS-CBN proudly launches another original teleserye that will bring a different twist to your primetime viewing experience,”Guns and Roses.” 

The project unites the most sought-after stars on Philippine primetime. Top billed by Robin Padilla in his comeback as a Kapamilya. “Guns and Roses” also brings back Bea Alonzo to the Primetime block as Robin’s leading lady. 

In addition, the latest romance-action series also features Diether Ocampo in an offbeat role that will further stamp his mark as one of the versatile actors of today. Adding up to the love story angle is the PBB Teen Edition Plus Grand Winner Ejay Falcon and the Empress of Drama, Empress. 

Is love enough to heal wounds? This is the basic but exciting premise the project holds. “Guns and Roses” is a story of a man named Abel Marasigan (Robin Padilla), whose past is riddled with pain and anger back when he was still 10 years old. Out of justice and shaped by revenge, he will be forced to leave his family to kill the people behind the death of his father. As the story goes on, he will meet Reign Santana (Bea Alonzo), a woman who just lost her fiancée in a seemingly incidental shooting. Both lonely hearts intertwine as their stories of broken family and estranged hearts fuse. 

However, one man stands between them, agent of law Marcus Aguilar (Diether Ocampo) who is the one responsible for Reign’s case. Unexpectedly, as the story unravels, he will fall in love with Reign. There will be more twists and turns as the story unfolds. In spite of the inconvenient truth, Abel and Reign will fight for their love no matter how complicated the situation may be. 

The full trailer gave a very interesting glimpse on the story of the much anticipated teleserye. Evident enough, “Guns and Roses” is capable of giving an exciting twist to the usual soaps aired primetime. Furthermore, the series houses a casting coup led by Mark Gil, Pen Medina, Liza Lorena, Isabel Rivas, Nanding Josef, Pinky Amador, Gladys Reyes, Ketchup Eusebio, Justin Cuyugan, Ina Feleo, Boom Labruska, Maliksi Morales with the special participation of Jake Cuenca. 

Directed by Trina Dayrit and Rechie del Carmen, “Guns And Roses” will hit the household screens every weeknights starting June 6 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. 

The Cute Teaser of the Tagalized "Crazy Little Thing called Love!"

Finally, the hit Thai movie called "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"will finally premiere in the Kapamilya network. This will be shown this coming Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 10:15 am in their "Kapamilya Blockbuster".

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" also known as "First Love" is a teenage romance-comedy flick focusing on the story of first love, infatuation, high school life, and teenage crush. It stars the Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer.

The story revolves around Seon and Namnam. Their light romantic love story really inspires many teenagers and young at heart!

The airing of this Thai movie marks the start of airing Thai TV series on Philippine television! Yup, ABS-CBN will bring us different TV series from Thailand the way they did in bringing us Asianovelas from Korea, Taiwan, and China and of Latinovelas from Austria, Mexico, and Venezuela.

Aside from "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", there are rumors that the Kapamilya network will also air on Philippine TV the other hit movie of Mario Maurer called "Love of Siam"! For sure, many will truly await for that!

New Drama Series ‘Switched at Birth’ Patterned After ‘Mara Clara’?

A new TV series set to premiere this Monday on ABC Family in the US has a similar plot with the Philippines’ “Mara Clara.”

“Switched at Birth” is an upcoming American television series set to premiere on ABC Family this Monday, June 6. The drama series revolves around two teenagers who were switched at birth and grew up in very different environments.

Sounds familiar, right? That’s because the plot is quite similar to ABS-CBN’s top-rating teleserye, “Mara Clara.” But there’s a lot of elements in the story that makes “Switched at Birth” different from our local drama series.

Here is the synopsis of “Switched at Birth” according to Wikipedia:

Bay Kennish (Vanessa Marano) is an artistic teenager being raised by her stay-at-home mom Kathryn (Lea Thompson) and former professional basketball player father John (D.W. Moffett), in a wealthy neighborhood along with her brother Toby (Lucas Grabeel). After studying blood types in school, Bay begins to investigate why her blood type does notmatch her parents. When the family confirms Bay is not biologically related, they discover the hospitalmistakenly switched her with another newborn. Enter Daphne Vasquez (Katie Leclerc), a deaf teen living with her struggling single mother Regina (Constance Marie) and grandmother in a working class neighborhood. A case of meningitis caused Daphne to lose her hearing as a child, so she attends a deaf and hard of hearing school where she plays basketball.

When the two families meet, the girls toil with their identities as Bay relates to her birth mother’s artistic abilities and Daphne is drawn to John’s athletic skills. The Kennishes learn that Regina is facing financial woes and propose the Vasquezes move into their guest home. The new living situation forces the girls, along with both families, to understand their differences and embrace their similarities.

Deaf advocate Marlee Matlin plays a friend of Regina’s and the mother of Emmett (Sean Berdy), Daphne’s best friend and a deaf schoolmate.

Come to think of it, the story about two main characters being “switched at birth” have been used (and exhausted) in various drama programs. Take for example South Korea’s “Endless Love: Autumn in My Heart” has the same premise but the series focused more on thelove story of one of the lead characters that have been “switched at birth.”

‘Iglot’ Starring Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin & Claudine Barretto Soon on GMA-7

Former Kapamilya stars Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin andClaudine Barretto will join forces in upcoming Kapuso fantaserye.

“Iglot” is the working title of the fantasy series being offered by GMA-7 to Claudine Barretto. It’s about a child who found a giant egg that contains a magical creature inside.

Supporting Claudine in the fantaserye are former Kapamilya stars like her, Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin. Luis Alandy is also reported as one of the cast-members in the said series to be helmed by Gil Tejada.

The Kapuso network is said to be launching another child star, afterJillian Ward, who will be the main character in “Iglot.”

Contrary to reports, the new fantasy series is set for GMA’sDramarama sa Hapon block and not Telebabad which means it’s not going to hit primetime television.

Perhaps this is going to be Claudine’s first hit program on GMA-7 since the Kapuso network dominates the daytime block not only in Mega Manila but also in the nationwide TV ratings as well.

Charice’s 2nd International Album is Getting ‘Louder’ and ‘Louder'

“Louder” is considered the second single of the Pinay international singing sensation for her upcoming second album. It was released on iTunes and Amazon last May 31 together with another single titled “Lost the Best Thing.”

Charice is currently shooting the music video for “Louder” so we have two music videos to watch for, the other one is for the Acuvue-sponsored “One Day” which is produced by Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers.

‘In the Name of Love’ Grosses P106.66-M in 3 Weeks

The Star Cinema movie “In the Name of Love” has registered a box-office gross of P106.66 million in 3 weeks.

The Aga Muhlach and Angel Locsin starrer became the secondFilipino movie to surpass the P100 million mark this year after “Catch Me…I’m In Love” starring Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Andersonwhich has a box-office record of P120.21 million.

Capturing the no. 1 spot last weekend is Dreamworks’ animated filmKung Fu Panda 2 by raking-in P84.8 million in first 5 days. Settling for 2nd place is Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which now had a box-office gross of P120.21 million in 2 weeks.

The mighty “Thor”, on the other hand, still holds the record of being the top-grossing movie in the Philippines for 2011 by virtue of its P175.9 million gross in 5 weeks.

2NE1 Arrives in Manila, Mobbed by Filipino Fans

Members of the K-Pop sensation 2NE1, including former Kapamilya star Sandara Park, were greeted by a slight commotion when they arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Friday night.

Members of the press were incensed after they were shoved bysecurity personnel protecting the Korean pop stars, according to ABS-CBN News, preventing cameramen and photographers from takingpictures and video footage.

A Korean wearing an arrival VIP Pass, identified as Park Sung, even bragged that he can have the cameraman threatened one reporter that he would be fired.

A woman, allegedly a production staff of PULP Productions, displayed her bad finger to airport journalists.

Hundreds of their Filipino fans mobbed their arrival that caused a littlecommotion at the airport.

2NE1 members CL (Lee Chae Rin), Bom (Park Bom Lee), Dara(Sandara Park) and Minzy (Gong Min-ji) arrived last night onboard an Asiana Airlines flight from South Korea.

The group is set to perform at the Araneta Coliseum, tonight, June 4.

The long wait is over as the highly anticipated hit Thai movie of 2010 “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” finally premieres on Philippine free TV this Sunday (June 5) in ABS-CBN’s “Kapamilya Blockbuster.”

Fans of Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer (above) and Thai sweetheat Baifern (below) are definitely excited to relive the sweet moments of Nam and Shone in this talked about movie hit and certified internet sensation.

Follow the ups and downs in love of Nam (Baifern), an ordinary high school girl who has a crush on campus heartthrob and senior Shone (Mario Maurer). With the help of her friends, she will do everything she can just to be noticed by her Prince Charming. She will change the way she looks and change and even attempts to be the star of the school but will this be enough to grab Shone’s attention? Will she be able to experience her first love or first heartbreak?

Aaron Villaflor of ‘Good Vibes,’ Ready to Take on Sexy Roles

Young actor Arron Villaflor said he is now ripe for mature and sexy roles after already six years in showbiz.

The runner-up of Erich Gonzalez in 2005’s “Star Circle National Teen Quest” said this after being asked about his much-talked about kissing scene with Kristel Moreno in the top-rating youth-oriented program “Good Vibes.”

“Kung kailangan sa role, game po ako. Pinagdarasal ko din naman po kasi na sana maayos yung mga role na makuha ko,” he explained.
Whether or not he pushes through with this route, Arron will still be a force to reckon with on the dance floor. As Franco, Arron showed his moves again in last week’s episode, where their group Sinagdiwa competed in an inter-school dance competition.

Their group should have won but they were later disqualified because Maribeth (Devon Seron), who came in to dance in place of an injured member, is not a student of their school, and therefore, not allowed todance with them.

Because of this fiasco, the school will expel either Troy (Enrique Gil) or Marc (Sam Concepcion) since they were the ones who decided to let Maribeth dance in their number.

With a new problem to fix, will Marc still have time to make amends with his ex-girlfriend Monique (Coleen Garcia)? And will this make best friends Troy and Maribeth realize their true feelings for each other?
