Star Magic Ball 2011 - The Gowns and Suits, The Pairs, The Glamour and The Awards

Star Magic ball, the much-awaited yearly event of the brightest Star Magic talents, will happen tonight. But few hours before that it already became a trending topic in the social networking site Twitter.

Showbiz personalities and fans alike were hyped a few hours before the event, putting the hashtag “#Star Magic Ball” up on the 3rd spot of the top trending Twitter topics in the Philippines.

Several people have noticed this, including actress Jessy Mendiola (@JessyMendiola) who tweeted, "Aba trending and star magic ball :)"

A lot of celebrities have expressed their excitement over the upcoming gala, just like entertainment reporter Gretchen Fullido (@gretchenfullido) who tweeted on Friday “It's the much awaited Star Magic ball na 2mro! Woot Woot! :)”

Even actress Dimples Romana (@DimplesRomana) had her share on this trend. She tweeted this morning, “Star Magic Ball today! :) have a blessed weekend everyone!”

Celebrity stylist Liz Uy (@lizzzuy) has also observed how thrilled most showbiz personalities were with regard to the occasion. “Dami kong nakita sa Greenbelt 5. Everyone's shopping for the StarMagic Ball! #pressureimsure,” she tweeted.

The annual Star Magic ball is known to be one of the most glamorous nights in the entertainment industry. Celebrities, wearing gowns and suits by the designers of their choice, get to walk down the red carpet for a night of star-studded fun with their chosen date partners.

Other than a parade of fashionable wardrobes, the awarding ceremony is also one the most anticipated parts of this event.

Every season, tension fills the Judges Cull round where the judges of ABS-CBN's talent-reality show Pilipinas Got Talent select the auditionees who will advance and compete in the much-awaited semi-final round. This is very evident in PGT's TV plug that showed judge Freddie "FMG" Garcia about to walk out of the set during deliberations.

What happened during the Judges Cull? Did FMG really walk out? Who among the 187 acts who received the judges' votes will become one of the 36 official semi-finalists this season?

Alaska Earthquake - Video of Earthquake and Tsunami Location in Alaska

Alaska earthquake estimated to be at 7.1 magnitude has hit the Aleutian Islands off Alaska on Friday according to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The USGS said the earthquake struck in the waters at about 6:55 a.m. ET. The quake struck 107 miles southeast of Atka, Alaska, at a depth of 22.1 miles.

A brief tsunami warning was immediately issued for coastal areas of Alaska from Unimak Pass to Amchitka Pass.

Elisa is Finally Found! 'Nasaan Ka Elisa' is Coming This September 2011!

The long wait is over! Finally the much awaited Philippine adaptation of the hit mysterious Chile TV series "Nasaan Ka Elisa"will premiere this coming September 2011!

Originally, this said teleserye is set to air on March 2011 and will be putted on the Kapamilya Gold daytime campaign of ABS-CBN. But due to certain issues, the play date of this Melissa Ricks-starer TV series becomes hanging on the air. People even expect that this will not anymore prosper!

ABS-CBN now launches new teasers of "Nasaan Ka Elisa." This time, they finally announce its play date. And take note, it will be on Primetime Bida and not on daytime block!

Now that the Robin Padilla action-serye "Guns and Roses" is about to end, definitely, "Nasaan Ka Elisa" will replace the said soap. And it will take its late night timeslot since many of its scenes are for mature audience!

Iglot pilot scores high ratings

GMA 7's "Iglot" made a strong debut on primetime last Monday, August 29, 2011 based on rating figures released by Kantar Media - TNS and AGB Nielsen.

"Iglot", which stars mostly ex-Kapamilya talents such as Claudine Barretto, Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin, Pauleen Luna, Patrick Garcia and Luis Alandy, scored a pilot rating of 20.5% nationwide (Kantar Media) and 12.6% in Mega Manila (AGB Nielsen).

It was not the most-watched program last Monday but it was able to beat ABS-CBN's "100 Days To Heaven" in Mega Manila and pull up the (already high) ratings of 'Amaya' which ranked #1 last Monday, from being 4th only last Friday.

Miss Universe 2011 candidates now in São Paulo, Brazil | Early favorites: USA, China, Netherlands

The 60th Miss Universe pageant (Miss Universe 2011) has already started in São Paulo, Brazil with a record 89 candidates competing for the title.

The candidates from USA, China, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Brazil, Greece, Malaysia, Paraguay, Ukraine, Australia, Sweden, Angola, Albania, Venezuela and Puerto Rico are considered as favorites this early stage of the competition.

The Presentation Show or the Preliminary Competition is scheduled on September 8 and the finals will be on the 12th, both to be staged at the Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil.

Three (3) Asian finalists are currently dominating the voting for the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Based on the voting trends (both from international and national votes) released last Tuesday, the mangrove forest Sundarbans in Bangladesh and West Bengal, India currently has the most international votes or votes coming from outside the home country, followed by South Korea's Jeju Island and the Philippines' Palawan Underground River.

As for the most national votes (votes coming from within the home country), Jeju Island is currently leading followed by Sundarbans and the PP Underground River.

Originally the song was intended to be Beyonce's 2nd single from her album 4, but after performing it live in American Idol, she got a change of heart and made "Best Thing I Never Had" the 2nd single. Now, she officially released "1+1" as a single via this music video. I love this video, "1+1" is not my favorite in the album but seeing the video made me appreciate the song even more. "1+1" is one of the several MV's that Beyonce already shot. I can say Bey is really sexy in this MV. What can you say about "1+1" ?
