Shamcey Supsup may be feeling the pressure but said she'd rather be inspired by Venus Raj's fourth place finish in the Miss Universe pageant last year.
"Siyempre may pressure din. But ginagamit ko naman siya in a positive way," the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2011 said in a taped interview aired on "The Buzz" on Sunday
Despite the expected tight competition, Shamcey believes that she can bring home the Miss Universe crown.
“Of course lagi kong sinasabi, if we are destined to win, we will get the crown. I believe I’ve worked hard. I have the discipline. I’m determined and with the support of everyone, I believe we have a chance,” the 24-year-old University of the Philippines magna cum laude graduate said.
Supsup said she is constantly undergoing trainings to prepare for the international pageant which will be held in Brazil next month.
“Madami pa. Siyempre nandoon yung mga walking training, catwalk with past beauty queens like Venus Raj. Lately I had a training with Karen Agustin. Tinuruan niya ako ng mga kinds of poses, kung paano i-move ang head. Ang dami daming trainings and I think may mga susunod pa,” she shared.
“Sa akin it’s more on mental and emotional preparation. Kasi maraming nagsasabi, sa Miss Universe a lot of beautiful girls, intelligent girls. How will you stand out? So dapat you have to have that self confidence."
As she flies to Brazil, Shamcey said she will take with her the support of those who love and believe in her.
“Sometimes nakakatakot na pupunta ako [na] mag-isa lang doon. Wala akong kasama. Ang layo. Parang opposite sides of the world. More than 24 hours daw 'yung biyahe at ako lang. Lahat ng bagahe ko ako ang magdadala," she said.
"Ang lucky charm ko is the people who support and love me. Alam ko na whatever happens there, nandoon pa rin sila."
