MALACAÑANG urged parents to report immediately to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) any complaint in connection with the controversial teleserye “My Husband’s Lover” starring Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez . Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte noted that the MTRCB chaired by Atty. Eugenio “Toto” Villareal will act immediately on any complaint from parents about certain TV shows violation of our laws. Valte reacted to criticisms aired by Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Youth executive secretary Fr. Gunegundo Gargante cautioning the producers and writers of the said teleserye to be more sensitive and critical on the show’s impact and consequences to the consciousness and awareness of television viewers and the public at large even as he called on them to be more responsible with such shows with sensitive themes. “Alam niyo po, madali -- mabilis pong gumalaw ang MTRCB lalo po ’pag nakaka-receive po sila ng mga complaints from parents. So ini- encourage na lang po natin ’yung mga magulang, kapag meron po kayong nakita na sa inyong pakiramdam ay hindi po angkop doon sa binigay na rating ay i- report po natin agad sa MTRCB,” Valte said. The MTRCB is the lead agency imbued with the regulatory power and function of reviewing and classifying films or television programs brought before it. “May mga guidelines naman po tayo at I know that the MTRCB is working very closely with the stations as well as ’yung ibang mga stakeholders to arrive at a consensus pagdating po doon sa mga PG (-rated shows) na dapat
pinapalabas, kung dapat po ba SPG (striktong patnubay at gabay) ang kailangan, and the other, pati ho
’yung mga sine po na pinapalabas,” Valte said.
