Star Cinema Ironing Project for Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer

Young star Erich Gonzales landed on the top trending local topics of microblogging site Twitter on Monday after rumors circulated that she will be doing a film with Thai actor Mario Maurer.

The hashtag #ErichGonzales made it to the 8th spot on Twitter's list of top trending topics in the Philippines on Monday morning while Star Cinema, ABS-CBN's movie outfit, landed in 6th place.

Several netizens shared their excitement over the rumored project.

"Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer will be having a movie together under Star Cinema!! o.O lucky Girl.. im jealous!! :P," Genesis Ching tweeted.

"Omegosh! Is that true that Erich Gonzales and @ohohmario will pair under Star Cinema?" KC Labios said.

For her part, Jennie Tagubase said, "Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer will be having a film under Star Cinema! :D im not a fan of Erich but im so excited na :)."

Maurer tweeted last July 8 that he will visit Manila soon. He did not say anything about a new movie project with Gonzales.

'See you soon Philippines,' he wrote.

But Joyce Ramirez of Publicity Asia, the group that will bring Maurer to the Philippines, said they still need to iron things out with Star Cinema.

"STAR CINEMA and I still need to iron out a lot of details including the SCRIPT in the meantime follow @PENSHOPPE for Meet & Greet details!," Ramirez tweeted.

She added, "THE SELECTION of the ACTRESS position will only be revealed after Mario Maurer reviews the SCRIPT - so nothing is FINAL yet! Thank you."

Meanwhile, Ramirez said she will be flying to Thailand next week to introduce Star Cinema to Maurer.

Diether Ocampo who will be celebrating his 36th birthday on July 19, speaks on speculations that he might be the guy whom Kris Aquino has referred to as the suitor that stopped pursuing her because of his busy schedule during the latter's daytime talk show "Kris TV.”

Sabihin na lang natin na mahirap mag-assume. At this point okay ‘yung ganitong situation namin. Busy ka, busy ako. Mahirap kapag meron kang karelasyon kasi mako-kompromiso ang trabaho.” Diether explained.

Rumors of Diether and Kris’s special relationship began when they starred in the movie “Dalaw” but Diet refused to admit nor deny the rumor, “Ayoko namang sayangin din ‘yung pagkakaibigan namin nang gano’n-gano’n, 'di ba, kasi pinahahalagahan ko ‘yan, eh. Basta ang importante sa akin bilang kaibigan.”

The actor, nevertheless, is non-commital when it comes to the possibility of him ending up as Kris’ boyfriend.

Mahirap magsalita nang tapos, eh. Hindi ko naman makokontrol ang nararamdaman ko, ‘di ba? Utak ko makokontrol ko pero ‘yung puso ko hindi, eh. So ngayon ayoko munang ramdamin.

When the question of Kris giving him a pricey watch for his July 19 birthday came up, Diether was surprised. “Ewan ko. Meron bang pinadala? Wala akong natatanggap na gano’n.

GMA Network Faces Unpaid Taxes Case?

GMA Network Inc. has denied allegations that it has unpaid taxes with the Quezon City government.

This is in response to Malaya's (Business Insight) report that GMA Network owed P823 million in overdue taxes and associated penalties for the past four years.

These unpaid taxes, according to the broadsheet, represents "business taxdeficiency/delinquency including surcharges and penalties for the period of 2006 to 2010."

In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, Ayahl Ari Augusto P. Chio, Vice President for Investor Relations and Compliance, said the company "has diligently paid the local franchise tax since the enactment of the Quezon City Revenue Code."

Chio also added that the company has yet to get a response from the City Treasurer's Office on its request for the basis of the assessment.
